Stockyards Station Fountain - Before and After
Original Image - Man that sky is blown out. Overcast day really peaked the whites and highlights. The main subject is underexposed. Shot at 18mm ISO 3200 1/400 at f/10. What to do? How do I fix it?
After Post Processing in LR5 - Use the adjustment brush and selected Highlights. Dialed the highlights all the way down, dialed the exposure down 1/2 to full stop, and cooled down the color temp just a hair. That was for the sky. For the rest - e.g. the fountain, I upped the exposure about 1.5 stops, increased the clarity and saturation, and increased contrast of the lettering.
